It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

badge
It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a place to meet up and share what you have been, and are about to be reading over the week. It’s a great post to organise yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment and er… add to your groaning TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started on J Kaye’s blog and then was hosted by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn here at The Book Date.
Jen Vincent, Teach Mentor Texts, and Kellee of Unleashing Readers decided to give It’s Monday! a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children’s literature – picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels or anything in those genres – join them.

Greetings to you all. I so enjoy hearing what you are all reading and how you all are. My concern goes out to those of you who are struggling with your own health issues or those of loved ones. I think of you often.

For me, sun filled days at the moment. I have booked a Covid booster shot for this afternoon. Just after this post goes live.  I think Omicron has just found its way in through our border so better to be as ready as possible. Today marks when they start doing children 5 – 11 years. We are up to at least 90% of rest of population double dosed I think.

In other news the volcano near Tonga certainly sent shock waves around the world. Just waiting to see how the people of Tonga are doing.

And hello Australia. This time fully behind your actions in regards to a certain ejection from your country!!

What I read last week:

What I am reading now:

A review book.

Goodbye Again

And audiobook.

Promises and Primroses

Up next:

I think it will be this library book I picked up off the shelf when I went to return a library book. It was my first place I had to show my vaccine pass to get in. As well as mask up of course.

This was published in 2007 and is a backlist book of an author I enjoy.

Book Connections

Cozy Mystery Series

So many books, I can’t keep up! I decided to look at cozy mystery series I will prioritise. Some I am almost up to date with so I haven’t included those. Another time I might look at other series I want to keep up to date with as well. The one thing about a cozy mystery is they do read quickly on the whole. so that’s a reading positive.

Checked Out for Murder This is #4 in the Haunted Library Mystery series and I have enjoyed the first three via audio. So this is a definite series to follow through.

Love the library ghost, the library cat and librarian Carrie. I see she gets on some reader’s nerves but my nerves are reasonably stable at the moment!! I also like the mysteries and the narrator does a good job.

book cover The Royal Spyness series and I am up to this one #7 Heirs and Graces. So well narrated and a load of fluffy royal British fun. Such easy listening and some interesting murders and situations.

The Whispered WordLook at those yummy scones on the cover, plus the books of course. I enjoyed #1 and The Whispered Word is #2 of The Secret, Book and Scone series. It has a group of women, one of them Nora, runs the bookshop and she knows how to pick the right book for you. Again the narrater Cris Dukehart presents the books really well.

book coverThis is #1 of the Liz Talbot Mystery series. I haven’t started this one but its in my library at Audible …. waiting! Liz Talbot is a modern Southern belle: she blesses hearts and takes names. She carries her Sig 9 in her Kate Spade handbag, and her golden retriever, Rhett, rides shotgun in her hybrid Escape. When her grandmother is murdered, Liz high-tails it back to her South Carolina island home to find the killer.Twisted threads

I’m up to date with reading  my quilting cozy series and so even though I don’t do needlepoint this series comes recommended by a respected cozy mystery reader,  so I have this one out from the library. Love the cover again and I am looking forward to reaching it. Because its #1 in the series I am hoping I’ll be able to keep this one for awhile as most interested will have read it.

I did get some good reading done earlier in the week and then…. I fell down the rabbit hole of quilting.  It’s really like books, I see all these patterns and fabric I want to get into, and of course I can’t do it all… but I want to! Rather like wanting to read all those books I just don’t quite make it to.

What I read last week:

Had a good reading week. Loved all the books completed.  The Ellery Adams book was audio and very good in that format. I’ll just have to keep going with the series as I will with the Debra Webb books. It had that fast pace I was needing.  I love women’s fiction but sometimes I need a change and that was perfect.

What I am reading now:

The Australian/NZ cover of this book. I am really enjoying it.  For review.

The Last Night in London

Up next:

I enjoy this Australian author and the book has come in from the library.

The Jam Queens
And I will start listening to
