And August sure is well on its way! We have been promised a cold winter week. We shall see. Snow down in the South Island, but maybe we won’t see much snow up on the Ranges, but you never know.
I don’t seem to have been doing much reading, I just don’t know what I do all day!! I do know on a Sunday I sit there and think, even though I have been retired a few years now, I don’t have to worry about school and teaching for Monday. Soooo good!
What I read last week:
What I am reading now:
I thought I would have this read by now but my reading has been a bit slower this week. Plus this book is a little complicated with its mystery. It’s stretching my brain! I should be finished by the end of today though.
Up next:
Books from the library are piling in on me. I can see I am not going to most likely get my quota of books off my actual shelf read this month. But… thank you library. I am going to try out this one first as lots of reserves waiting for it.
Last Week’s Posts
Cold winter weather sounds great right now! We’re still stuck in the 90’s here and very humid, though the forecast is showing a nicer weekend coming up!
How did you like Flying Solo? I enjoyed her first novel.
Hope you enjoy your books this week – thanks for hosting the linkup!

Flying Solo was good but I didn’t like it as much as her first book.

I received an ARC of A Certain Darkness and my brain was stretched just from reading the description on the back. 😅

It’s strange to think of a cold week in August! 😉 We are coming to the end of a lonnnnggggg heat wave here on the East Coast of the US. Flying Solo just came through for me from the library on audio. It has been very popular, though not as popular as the Jennifer Weiner book, which people have to wait forever for!

Yes I see about 70 other readers waiting for the Jennifer Weiner book so I can’t sit on it, had to bring it up the list straight away!

Currently reading 3 books – a paperback mystery, an Mil-SF ebook, and an ebook that’s part of a bundle of thrillers. http://www.lyndonperrywriter.com/2022/08/book-date-monday-aug-8-2022.html

Sounds like retirement agrees with you (despite the past couple of years). I hope you enjoy your reading this week, Kathryn.

It’s hard for me to realize I’ve been retired for four years now. I agree…it’s wonderful!
Have a lovely week.

I am with you on Sundays, the past worst day of the week when thinking about the coming work week, office drama and how I wish I wasn’t there ensued. I’m almost 7 years retired and even though I had to take early retirement to care for my disabled husband I’m loving every day and often wish I knew where the time goes. This weekend (It’s high summer here) I canned pickles and tomatoes. xo

Yay for retirement! I’m about 8 years out from being eligible – not that I’m counting. 🙂 I’m eager for a different kind of Sunday.

I was too sick over the latter half of the week to read much, but even so I often have no clue where all my time goes some days.
Wishing you a great reading week

My reading has been a little slower in the past week too, Kathryn. And I still haven’t caught up with writing my reviews! Still we can only do what we can do. Keep warm. ❤📚

I have A Certain Darkness coming up on my reading list and I’m so looking forward to it! I hope you get a little more reading done this week. It always drives me crazy when I’ve been too busy to read but can’t really remember what I was doing! Have a great week!

I picked up one of Anna Lee Huber’s books this week. Haven’t had a chance to read it yet.

I’m kind of looking forward to the cooler weather here, oddly enough, since usually in winter I can’t wait for the warm up. 🙂 I’ll be really curious to see what you think of Huber’s book as I’m keen to try those.

Snow! It’s so hard to think about as my air conditioner is roaring away at me. I hope your area avoids it if, like me, you prefer not to deal with it.
My sister visited last week and I had to catch up on chores yesterday. But today has been my day to catch up on journaling so I’ve kind of been sitting and thinking on a Sunday too. It’s been a nice break.
Enjoy your week!
