It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a place to meet up and share what you have been, and are about to be reading over the week. It’s a great post to organise yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment and er… add to your groaning TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started on J Kaye’s blog and then was hosted by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn here at The Book Date.
Jen Vincent, Teach Mentor Texts, and Kellee of Unleashing Readers decided to give It’s Monday! a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children’s literature – picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels or anything in those genres – join them.
Hope you are all well. Last Tuesday we were put into lock down for the whole country (New Zealand) and so for me that means seeing no one for the time being. We are only allowed out for a walk or to the supermarket. I went there this morning. Government are trying to put out the latest Covid Delta outbreak. I don’t think there is any near me but I am masking up when out as per most are. I think my area may have it all lifted quite a bit in a week.
What I read last week:
What I am reading now:
And listening to The Grand Sophy by Georgette Heyer.
Up next:
Not too sure yet, needs to be a mood read!
I love how New Zealand is handling COVID! Our government and citizens could learn so much for their example! Your summer reads have the most beautiful covers! I pray you are at least able to Zoom/Duo with someone, though it’s not the same as in person….

I read about that. Our school district sends out an email if there is a positive Covid-19 case and it explains how contact tracing has been done and whoever was affected will be confidentially and separately contacted.

The Grand Sophy is a really fun old fashioned romance and I am enjoying it.

Yes, I’ve started masking again although I’m fully vaccinated because delta is so contagious. I know I’ll probably be OK if I get it, but I don’t want to be the vector sharing it with someone unvaccinated (like everyone’s kids!).
I hope the Grand Sophy is a good audio. I should grab a Heyer for my plane trip tomorrow!

I hope you are staying sane in lockdown. We are wearing masks again and are back to staying home as much as possible even though our area isn’t officially in lockdown. The variants are scary – especially since they seem even easier to transmit. The Nancy Thayer book looks really good! She’s an author I’ve been meaning to read for ages. Have a great week!

I am floored by the differences between our countries. Lock-down with 10 cases? We have thousands getting sick every day, hospitals getting overwhelmed again, people dying. … and still people arguing that wearing a mask infringes on their personal freedoms and huge events going forward. I am glad that at least we live in a part of the country with high vax rates and reasonable government. I hope NZ once again gets things under control quickly so you don’t have to stay in lockdown.
In the meantime, enjoy your walks and your books! Thanks for hosting the linkup.

Thanks Sue – with Delta it passes on quickly. Fortunately I am not in part of the country where it is really bad. I hope we get on top of it with the lockdown.

I’m so glad New Zealand are taking this so seriously, especially compared with other countries. I hope you guys get it under control quickly and lockdown doesn’t have to last too long.

The Delta variant got me and my husband this month (both of us were fully vaccinated). It was pretty bad for me but it could have been much worse. Don’t want another complete shutdown here, but we are masking up again everywhere indoors and outside in any kind of line or crowd.

Oh Laurie so sorry to hear you got a dose of the Delta variant, it is so rampant. Take care.

I wish our country (USA) would do more to stop the spread. It is crazy here. Enjoy your books!

I saw that about NZ. Hoping you don’t have more cases and things are lifted there soon. It’s a train wreck here in parts of america but what’s new lol?
Be well this week!

New Zealand seems to be doing a good job of coming together for the common good. At least that’s how it looks from the US. I hope your lockdown doesn’t last too long. Enjoy your week!

Jen we do have our dissenters, but on the whole we do work together as much as possible.

I hope the lock down doesn’t last too long, but it definitely will keep you and everyone safe.
I still wear my mask everywhere too.
ENJOY the Mary Alice Monroe book, and have a great week.

I loved Family Reunion.
I am surprised that New Zealand is locking down! My granddaughter was there through most of the Pandemic, and everything was good. I guess those variants are creating havoc everywhere.
Enjoy your week.

Yes Delta is much easier to sneak around, but hopefully the lock down will stamp most of it out.
