It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a place to meet up and share what you have been, and are about to be reading over the week. It’s a great post to organise yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment and er… add to your groaning TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started on J Kaye’s blog and then was hosted by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn here at The Book Date.
Jen Vincent, Teach Mentor Texts, and Kellee of Unleashing Readers decided to give It’s Monday! a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children’s literature – picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels or anything in those genres – join them.

My week seems to have been centred around my trip to Rotorua, which while tiring seems to have moved things forward. Lawyers are so slow! It took me a couple of days to recover after the long trip and then I had the pleasure of a friend’s visit Saturday.

Other than that just a little of this and that. Next week will be Christmas Eve – so much excitement already amongst the little ones everywhere.

What I read last week:

A delightful Christmas story of family and reconciliation and understanding.

A beautifully written book set in the marshlands of Nth Carolina. A haunting story full of nature, mystery and murder – a court procedure and a final reveal of the murderer that I just couldn’t adjust to!! You’ll know if you read it. Most people liked the ending – me … not so much!  Well worth reading.

  1. Glad you managed your trip & got your business taken care of…and enjoyed a visit from a friend!

Also glad to hear you enjoyed Where the Crawdads Sing – I reviewed the book and interviewed the author earlier this year and just loved both!

Enjoy your books this week & thanks for hosting the linkup!

  2. I’m reading several books right now to review, plus “Good and Mad” from the library. I decided this morning to give up on the novel “What We Lose” because it just wasn’t grabbing me. I haven’t had much success with novels this year that really appeal to me.

  3. Sounds like you enjoyed your time catching up with a friend! I still can’t believe that Christmas is seven days away!! We open our gifts on the 24th and then Santa (wink wink – the kids know it’s me but we still pretend) leaves games (board and card games) and fills their stockings with candy and chocolates.

I love the cover for The Christmas Sisters. It sounds like my kind of story that I like to read during the holidays. Enjoy your week!

  4. Hi Kathryn! I am sorry you are having to meet with lawyers but a trip to Rotorua sounds like fun to me. I enjoyed visiting that city! Your books sound fun. I am reading Light It Up by Nick Petrie in the Peter Ash series.

Yes, the Jodi Thomas is a reissue but it was new to me. I enjoyed it!

  6. Glad your trip went well. I hear you on lawyers- sometimes it seems to take forever with legal things. Anyway, hope this last week before Christmas is a nice one for you. 🙂

    Happy reading

  7. I’m glad that your travel went well. (I have to admit that we lawyers can be slow sometimes.)
I am glad you are enjoying your reading. I am eyeing that Jodi Thomas book for February!
Hope you have a blessed week as you prepare for Christmas. Happy Reading!
