I hope you all had a great Christmas Day and week. I had a wonderful family day with sisters and brothers and families. It’s such fun to be among little ones. My gorgeous 4 year old great niece gave me a card she’d made. Her grandmother (my sister) told me she’d spent the day before making them. She told Anne the best part was putting the cards in the envelopes. So when I received mine I commented on the envelope and how well stuck down it was. (It was really stuck down!) “Yes”, she said proudly, “I really used my tongue.”
Well the old year is almost gone! Maybe you’ve been reflecting on it and re visioning for 2020. In reading I have decided to drop all challenges except for setting a low key goal over on Goodreads.
I am also beginning a Friday Five bookish link up/meme/post for those who enjoy making lists with five. The lists can be as simple or as complicated as you like. I have been compiling posts for my lists of five and I think I’ll begin with five books on my bookshelf that I’ll read sooner rather than later in 2020.
What I read last week:
Both very good reads.
What I am reading now:
For some reason I thought this was a cozy mystery, I think it was the author’s name that put me into thinking that. But no, it is more women’s fiction with a little romance.
And still listening to Regretting You by Colleen Hoover.
Up next:
Sheila from Book Journey is again running her First Book of the Year
Indeed its also the first book of a new decade as well. If you haven’t joined in before why not this time and make it a new tradition.
Last Week’s Posts
LOL! The little one’s response; precious!

Glad you had good holidays 🙂 I might join in with connect 5 Friday. Wish I could find a workable Thursday and Saturday meme though…

Well you might post your five post on either Thursday or Saturday and then link up to the Connect Five. Would be welcome.

Happy New Year, Kathryn!! I guess it’s already Jan. 2 there, huh? That still blows my mind ha ha
Glad you enjoyed Celine, too. I want to read The River, his novel that came out in 2019 (I almost said “this” year – oops!).
Thanks for reminding me about First Book of the Year! Though I had to go with my next book group choice (waited too long!).
Here’s to a wonderful year of reading in 2020!

Connect Five sounds interesting. I’ve added it to my “look into” list to see if it’s something I can add into my rotation. 🙂 Headed now to look at First Book of the Year link…. Thanks and Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! I’m was thinking of easing up on challenges this year, so the Friday Five comes at a good time. Thank you so much for hosting our little internet gathering each week.

I like your Friday Five idea! I’ll have to keep an eye out for that. Also I’m the same with challenges. I didn’t do any in 2019 and it was awesome haha- so I’m skipping them in 2020 as well. 🙂
Happy New Year!!!

I like the sound of the Friday Five! I’m having trouble posting on a regular basis, and having a meme and a specified day seems to be the only way I get myself to post even occasionally these days! All of your books this week have good covers — very tempting!

Great Laurie, yes I think the Friday meme will help me too in exactly that way.

Love what your great niece said!! So cute!!
THE LITTLE BOOKSHOP ON THE SEINE looks good….love the cover.
The ONLY challenge I do is Goodreads.
I like your list of five things idea…so it will be a weekly meme like It’s Monday?
I am also looking forward to THE FIRST BOOK OF THE YEAR post. Love seeing everyone and their books.
You get to celebrate first, so HAPPY NEW YEAR, Kathryn.
Let’s see how fast this new year speeds by….last year went crazily fast. Scary!!

Elizabeth yes indeed we do, as I sit here its almost 11am on New Years Eve day. Gotta slow these days down!! Yes the five book idea will be a weekly meme on Friday like the Monday one. First book of the year speeding up! Happy New Year for you when it arrives.

I’ve been eyeing The Country Guesthouse and The Little Bookshop on the Seine (and yeah, that does sound like a mystery author!). The First Book of the Year sounds like fun! I’ll have to think about what my first official book will be since I’ll still be reading one of my current reads come January, but I don’t want to count that as my FIRST book. lol

Yes, your first book started will be the one to totally consider and make the choice around. Hope its a great read for you.

This year went like a flash. A good reading year, though I felt disappointed with how meh a lot of my reads were. On to 2020!

Lets knock out the meh reads in 2020 and just look for the best!!

I just finished reading The Little Bookshop on the Seine. I enjoyed it very much. No, it’s not a cozy mystery at all. It’s more women’s fiction than even romance.
Have a great week and Happy New Year!

Yes the Little Bookshop genre slowly seeped in as I read. And yes I’d put it way into the women’s fiction realm now that I am almost finished.

I do miss Christmas with little ones. My niece and nephew are now in their late teens. We still did fun stuff like decorating cookies. I might do the Connect 5 on Instagram as I need something to keep me active there (I just forget to take pictures). Happy New Year!

Donna love to have you on the connect 5 on IG. I just set myself up a separate bookstagram account. I am not the best for being active taking photos though!

Celine is on my audible wish list so glad to hear you enjoyed. I also liked the new Robyn Carr book.

I love Rebecca Raisin’s books! Hope you enjoy! I find challenges a lot of pressure so I don’t set them or set them very low!

Happy New Year to you from me too! I haven’t set myself a reading challenge, not even Goodreads, as that’s too much pressure for me.
