It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a place to meet up and share what you have been, and are about to be reading over the week. It’s a great post to organise yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment and er… add to your groaning TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started on J Kaye’s blog and then was hosted by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn here at The Book Date.
Jen Vincent, Teach Mentor Texts, and Kellee of Unleashing Readers decided to give It’s Monday! a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children’s literature – picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels or anything in those genres – join them.

Welcome in everyone. I had a pretty normal week, with a variety of activities, very few of them housework or anything like that! My reading was good, my admiration of Louise Penny continues to grow, and I really enjoyed the Mary Balogh audiobook.

I watched the last episode of Ted Lasso and was very sad to see it finish. Now that the nights get dark quickly with winter here, I tend to watch something. I think I might have to flick over to Netflix to catch up on a few things there.

Well hasn’t May rolled through fast. I think June counts as our first month in winter. I hope we get some really nice cold weather.

I did a lot of listening this past week or two as I sped through 20 hours of Atlas: The Story of Pa Salt which ends a series. As Lucinda Riley died her son did the last book from the notes his mother left. He did an excellent job. This book was set in a number of countries so it was quite a ride.  The Emma Project has been on my shelf for awhile so it was time and I did enjoy it.

I got hooked into watching Ted Lasso on Apple TV and now just waiting for the last one in season 3 to drop on Wednesday. I’ve loved the show and think I need to turn around at some point and watch it all again.

Hope you are all recovering from celebrating the Easter season, or whatever one you do at this time of the year. I went to church yesterday – it was packed. Saturday and Sunday were beautifully sunny days, today grey and rainy.

More books finished this week, one being audio so it was an ongoing one for a few weeks.

What I read last week:

What I am reading now:

The Girl from Donegal

I am listening to…

Arabella

And my slow and steady read is Fault Lines by Emily Itami.

The next book in The Secret, Book and Scone society. A review book.

As you can see I didn’t get a lot of reading done this week. I did read every day but not enough to finish more than one.

We had a wee taste of actual winter this week and I actually lit a fire one day it was so cold. But back to Autumn weather after that. We also ended daylight saving this weekend, so Sunday I was feeling a little dazed. We. might get back an hour in the  morning supposedly but then I wake early and that’s that! I guess it takes a few days to find our feet again.

Hope you are all well and not in the path of bad weather patterns. If you celebrate Easter may it be joy filled.

What I read last week:

A middle grade book I’ve always wanted to read. Really a kind of time travel book for a little boy who finds a wonderful garden at night that is not there during the day.

Books on my Autumn Reading List

banner

Linking up with ThatArtsyReaderGirl

Well its meant to be Spring reading list but as I live in the Southern Hemisphere lets make that Autumn to me.

These are books on my Autumn reading list.  There are a number of books coming out during this time but I am looking mostly at books that are already long out or just out. By the time I buy the books coming out they might make my winter reading list! That’s most likely your summer.

The Color of Light. Emilie Richards. A reread via audiobook. #4 in her Goddess Anonymous series.

The Lions of Fifth Avenue. Fiona Davis. An audiobook and a book I’ve wanted to read for awhile.

The Wife’s Promise Kate Hewitt. An audiobook and since I saw a good review for it its been in the back of my mind to read.

The London Girls Soraya Lane. Set in WW2 and one on my Kindle for awhile.

In the Unlikely Event. Judy Blume. I have already started this as a slow and steady read, most likely through a good part of this season.

Tom’s Midnight Garden. Philippa  Pearce. I have long wanted to read this book and so its on somewhere for the month of March. It won a Lewis Carroll Shelf Award in 1963 and the Carnegie medal in 1958.

Unlikely Animals.  Annie Hartnett. An unlikely read! I heard about it from Anne Bogel.

Paper Cuts.  Ellery Adams.  This is a review book and is the latest one in the Secret Book and Scone Society. A cozy series I really enjoy.

The Money Club. Fiona Lowe A review book too from my top favourite Australian author

The Cruellest Month. Louise Penny. #3 in the Gamache series and I am due to read the next one so its going on this list.

Wishing you all a very Happy Christmas to those who celebrate and a peaceful lead up to it. Next Monday you will hopefully be relaxed and resting after the excitement. I’ll spend Christmas dinner at one my sister’s place. Hopefully the weather will be fine, but at this point who knows as we have had so much rainy and humid weather. Fingers crossed!

What I read last week or finished last week:

Enjoyed them all. These Precious Days has essays by Ann Patchett. Very engaging. Fatal Grace pulled me in and I am now a fan! So much want to see what happens for Gamache next. So pleased I am reading from Book 1 and onwards.

What I am reading now:

Listening.

Slow Reading.

These are my slow reading. Both are quite considerable so they will take me into January and be my last and first reads of the year. I only read them for about 15 – 20 minutes. The Winners with coffee in the morning and Tell Me a Story for before I turn the light out. I like Non-fiction I’ve discovered at night. Unfortunately I have it in hardback and a bid heavy to hold in bed!

Hope you are all keeping well. I’ve had a quiet week on the whole, one day with a friend, but apart from that read, quilt – rinse and repeat! One good thing is now that the holiday season is coming up I see that the library has extended our loan period, so that’s a small delight.
