It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a place to meet up and share what you have been, and are about to be reading over the week. It’s a great post to organise yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment and er… add to your groaning TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started on J Kaye’s blog and then was hosted by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn here at The Book Date.
Jen Vincent, Teach Mentor Texts, and Kellee of Unleashing Readers decided to give It’s Monday! a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children’s literature – picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels or anything in those genres – join them.

December greetings. The days are moving on! On Saturday we had our extended family Christmas gathering that one of my beautiful nieces and her husband hosted. It was great, some had travelled quite a distance and then back for work day Monday so I am in admiration of them too. It was just lovely to see the young ones growing up and having fun together – the young ones are now all second cousins.  We never knew our second cousins so that is so lovely that they do.

Apart from that not much. My car goes into the paint and panel beaters tomorrow for some touch up from where I scraped it against the garage a few weeks ago. So last week I was organising that.

I seem to have got stuck on watching The Crown but must get back to it. I watched Trevor Noah on Netflix in Canada, he always lifts my spirits. Plus I love The Block Australia. They really know how to do it, our NZ one is hopeless in comparison, but I guess small country syndrome, small budget!

What I read last week:

It looks better than it really was. Somewhere Between Luck and Trust was an audiobook I’d been listening to for awhile and Lessons from the Prairie was my nighttime slow read. One evening I went down the rabbit hole of listening to the Megyn Kelly interview with Melissa Francis on YouTube and that was really good.

What I am reading now:

The Choice

So my two slow reads are still these, These Precious Days came back to me from the library, they had heaps of copies so I wasn’t too surprised my turn came around quickly and now I can finish it.

My audiobook is…

Miracle Creek Christmas

Up next:

Bread over Troubled Water

    1. She isn’t a great favourite with me. I read it as a slow read, just a little every day and I found that that way I could enjoy it. I wouldn’t go chasing her, as I say, life is short and so many books to choose from.

  1. Time always goes by way too quickly during this time of year. I also recently became addicted to The Crown! I can’t get enough. My favorite recent read has been “The Placeholder” by Lynda Wolters (her website – https://www.lyndawolters.com/). I don’t want to call it a romance book because it really has so much more to it. The main character, Sera, has gone through a nasty divorce in her 40s and unfortunately, does not have much luck in the dating world either. Luckily, she has a true-blue friend Carolyn who suggests having a “placeholder” – someone fun she can hook up with until Mr. Right comes along. I am sure you can guess it gets complicated as soon as handsome Zac comes into the picture. Although the book may seem like a light-hearted romp there is a big twist that will take your breath away. The book made me laugh, cry, and I have already bought it for a few friends for Christmas. I hope you will check it out. Happy Reading!

  2. My parents both come from large families so I was fortunate to grow up knowing many, many of my extended cousins. We always had a good time together. I’m glad your extended family sees each other.

I’ve seen Trevor Noah on TV but I’ve never actually read his book or watched any of his comedy specials. I did add them to our Netflix queue recently though. His book has been on my TBR forever. I should make it a goal to read it next year.

I hope you get your car back quickly!

  3. Your early Christmas celebration sounds wonderful! My sons also love to see their second cousins (and first cousins once-removed – I can never keep that straight!) – they saw some of them at Thanksgiving weekend.

So glad you got These Precious Days back from the library again so you can finish it. Enjoy that and your other books, too –

  4. I love the title Bread Over Troubled Water. Lol. Bridge Over Troubled Water is one of my favorite songs. I would read it just for that pun. Plus I love the cover too. Nora Roberts is on my TBR list for next year. Have a great week! 🙂

  8. Your family get-togethers sound great! I used to enjoy spending time with cousins, both first and second, and realize that it has been many years since I saw any of them!
