Jen Vincent, Teach Mentor Texts, and Kellee of Unleashing Readers decided to give It’s Monday! a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children’s literature – picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels or anything in those genres – join them.
And here we are hitting November! Last week was a bit of a mishmash, I went down with an eyelid infection that was painful, healing now, but don’t want that again. I ordered a new bed and can expect it later in November and finally some tree surgeons called back to give me a quote on trimming trees and ivy. Ouch why did I plant so many twenty years ago!!

Ouch on the eyelid infection. I’m glad it’s feeling better and I can definitely not blame you for not wanting that to happen again. I don’t envy you on the tree surgeon bills. I love trees but they are expensive to deal with!
PS you MUST read 84 Charing Cross Road. It’s a short little book so you’ll fly through it but I think you’ll enjoy it. And if you do you MUST get Q’s Legacy!

Ouch! That sounds painful, Kathryn – hope you are on the mend now. I went to the dentist today for tooth pain – looks like a small crack in a molar – ugh.
We are overdue for professional tree trimmers, etc. – we just can’t keep up with it all.
At least you read some good books last week!

An eyelid infection does sound painful! Yikes. Glad you are healing. We’ve been pricing tree trimmers too. They are SO expensive. We’ve been shocked by it.

Sorry to hear about your eye and the trees! We had a big storm with widespread power outages in our area last week, so our library (the only one around that was open) was extra busy with people coming in to charge their devices, work remotely, do something with the kids with no school, warm up a little, etc. It was nice to have the library full like the old days, but we don’t have the same amount of staffing as we used to anymore!
A tree had fallen across the end of our street when I left to go to work on Wednesday morning, but I could go around the block to get out. One more tree down on my way to work and lines out into the street for the one open coffeeshop in the town I drive through! A hairy drive but I made it!

How can it be November already??!! We have had to have some trees removed lately. It is not cheap! But what can you do?
I haven’t read a Macomber book in quite awhile. I need to get back to her books.

Hope your eyelid is better now.
We’ve had to have three trees cut down. One of them was so large you couldn’t see the front of our house!! 😳 I kinda miss that tree, but it had to go as it was about to break up our sidewalk and driveway. 😔 It had already busted our sewer line.

It cost a fortune to have three trees on on our block chopped down, so I sympathise.

I’m glad your eyelid infection is healing.
Tree work is ridiculously expensive! Our property isn’t that big but we had to cut down 16 trees that were too big or too sick or too close to the house when we bought 15 years ago. We’ve cut down 5 or 6 more since then and there are still plenty left! Good luck!

Sorry to hear of your eyelid infection – no fun. We learned a few years back how expensive it is to have trees cut — even if they are already downed by a hurricane.

Oh my goodness, that sounds awful and painful. I have never heard of an eyelid infection but it makes me cringe just thinking of it.

COTTAGE AT THE SEA looks good.
Ouch for sure on the trees…we have to have a huge oak cut down in the front yard. It was hit by lightening and is splitting apart where two trunks had grown together.

Very big job….yes…lightening hit the trunk about two years ago and now it is rotting inside and at the site of where the two trunks join.
I love that tree….sad it will be gone. Shades my house, but can’t have it falling over.
