It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a place to meet up and share what you have been, and are about to be reading over the week. It’s a great post to organise yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment and er… add to your groaning TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started on J Kaye’s blog and then was hosted by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn here at The Book Date.
Jen Vincent, Teach Mentor Texts, and Kellee of Unleashing Readers decided to give It’s Monday! a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children’s literature – picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels or anything in those genres – join them.

I am (was) out this morning for Covid vaccine Pfizer No. 2. Pleased to get it even though we have no community cases. However with it becoming an issue now in parts of Australia we are just a bit antsy it will sneak its way into NZ before long.

I had a good week, family fish ‘n chip night because my brother was visiting from up north, then Saturday out to watch soccer or football for Mr 7 year old. He is rather good, it’s great to see how his skills have developed over the season. When I was teaching the last thing I would have wanted to do was watch children’s sport on a Saturday morning. But now, I have fun at it.

What I read last week:

I had a really good reading week!  Sometimes that just happens!

What I am reading now:

I went to lengths to wait for this to publish and then to phone the local shop to see if they had it. Two copies, so I was up there to bags a copy!

I finished The Bright Side of Disaster by Katherine Center and so now I am listening to…

The Grand Sophy

Up next:

A library fest of books at present, but I think I can fit them in, in time! This is one.

  1. I enjoyed the Ravenels series. Mmm…fish n chips! I always love fried food and am thinking of getting the air fryer top attachment for our instant pot. It’d produce healthy food and still give that crisp texture.

  2. Hope your 2nd vaccine went well. I got Pfizer too and felt a bit yuck after the 2nd dose but it didn’t last long and it’s such a relief to have it done. I love a good reading week! I’m almost caught up with the Lea Wait series and while there have been some inconsistent books in the middle I’ll be sorry to reach the end. I want to read the Kleypas and I always want to read Jenny Colgan! That’s one I haven’t heard of. Say Goodbye looks great! I have a few books by that author but have yet to read any of them. Have a great week!

  3. It’s a good idea to get the vaccines ahead of the virus, rather than try to catch up later.

How is the audio for Grand Sophy? I really like the book.

  4. Wow, still can;t believe it took so long for you to get vaccines there! But glad you got them 🙂 And zero cases in the entire country? Can;t even imagine. Things are getting bad here – luckily, we live in a state with high vaccination rates, though cases & hospitalizations are increasing here, too, but not like the insanity down south where fewer got vaccinated. Tragic … and preventable 😦

Anyway, your week sounds nice. I miss watching my sons play soccer on Saturdays – they both loved it and got quite good – played from age 4 to 18!

And that WAS a good reading week! Hope you enjoy your books this week, too!

  5. Good news on the second jab, Kathryn. Enjoy your book treasure. The Summer of Lost and Found was especially timely in that year one of covid 19 is part of the plot. Relatable, for sure.

  6. It’s quite the disaster here in NSW, Arden should do everything she can to keep Delta out of NZ.
    Yay for being fully vaxxed!

Wishing you a great reading week

PS Seems InLinkz is down right now, I’ll drop my link in later.

  7. Glad you got your vaccine. I hope the spread is minimal for your area.
Fun to watch your family play.
You have several authors I enjoy too.
I hope you have another good week of reading!

  8. Congrats on the vaccine, hope you don’t have too many of the annoying side effects. Nice too that NZ is in the clear at the moment. Thank goodness. It’s not so great here naturally.

Have a wonderful week! Fish mmm sounds good. :),
