It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a place to meet up and share what you have been, and are about to be reading over the week. It’s a great post to organise yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment and er… add to your groaning TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started on J Kaye’s blog and then was hosted by Sheila from
Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn here at
The Book Date.
Jen Vincent, Teach Mentor Texts, and Kellee of
Unleashing Readers decided to give It’s Monday! a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children’s literature – picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels or anything in those genres – join them.
I had a good week of sewing and reading. I had an evening with some of my brothers and sisters on Saturday as one brother was down from up country. We had fish and chips and a night of laughs.
Today another brother brought me some manure (cow and sheep poo) from his farm for my veggie garden and as the day was mild I actually dug it into the garden to hopefully make it happy for next spring and summer.
Today, Monday, is a public holiday where we get to celebrate the Queen’s birthday, so I intend spending it with a friend. Then it’ll be back to reading and quilting for the rest of the week.
What I read last week:
What I am reading now:
And still listening to The Missing Sister.

Oops – somehow it’s Friday, and I just realized I never commented on your Monday post, Kathryn! It’s been sitting open in my browser (with 15 other open tabs) all week! Ugh – shows what kind of a crazy week I’ve had.
Sounds like you had a lovely week last week. So wonderful that you and your siblings are so close and that you can get together. My family is pretty spread around now and mostly still separated by the pandemic, though that should change soon – I think my son and I and a couple of the younger cousins, niece, and nephew are the last ones to get vaccinated.
Hope you’ve been enjoying your books and quilting this week!

Ooh, fish and chips!!! I’ve been craving that some. Does the manure also help to deter wild critters from nibbling on your food plants?

The Verity Kent and Quilting Mystery series both sound intriguing. I’m planning to read more mysteries – especially cozies – again, soon.
Happy reading!

It’s so nice to spend time with siblings. I don’t get to do that often, so I know how special it can be. Glad you had a good time!

I hope the manure works its magic for your garden! I’ve planted tomatoes, basil and lettuce but it will be at least a month before they are harvest worthy. Worth the wait! Hope you love the new Shalvis book!

Tomatoes are so good. I was pleased with my crop this last summer so I am hoping for next summer will be same. Hope your tomatoes go well Mary.

So nice to spend time with family especially if you can have lots of laughs. I’m finally reading and loving The Summer Seekers and I have The House Guests on my shelf. Have a good week Kathryn

Sounds like a good week with family visits and gardening. I have come to grips with the fact that I’m not going to have a garden this year again but I have high hopes for next year. Looks like you’ve got some great reading going! I’m really curious about the Jenny Colgan. I have a few more of her books on my shelf that I need to read. Have a good week!

Katherine, Class by Jenny Colgan was just okay. I wouldn’t go searching for it but stick with what you have.

So nice you’ve had some good visits with your siblings. My two older brothers, older sister and I have been having Zoom chats every few months, making sure to catch each birthday. 🙂
Enjoy your holiday visit. Then happy reading and quilting the rest of the week!
