It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a place to meet up and share what you have been, and are about to be reading over the week. It’s a great post to organise yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment and er… add to your groaning TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started on J Kaye’s blog and then was hosted by Sheila from
Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn here at
The Book Date.
Jen Vincent, Teach Mentor Texts, and Kellee of
Unleashing Readers decided to give It’s Monday! a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children’s literature – picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels or anything in those genres – join them.

Well welcome into the first IMWAYR for January and 2021. Hope it will be a better year this time. We shall see. I didn’t see the New Year in, I turned on a podcast and fell asleep, thought I had set the timer for an hour but must not, because my list was all gone when I checked. I had listened to it! Just as well they are easy to recover.
What I read last week:
Trevor Noah’s memoir on audible was just amazing. I really enjoyed my first book of the year Knot in my Backyard, and King’s Ransom was my last book of the year.
What I am reading now:

And I am listening to Read and Gone by Allison Brook and Naughty in Nice by Rhys Bowen

I saw the New Year in but I was the only person in my house that did! I love that Allison Brook series and just listened to that one right before Christmas. I like the Rhys Bowen series but have found it a bit inconsistent – always fun but some are just not as solid as others. I’m listening to The Shadow Sister (finally!) and really enjoying it. The only issue is I’m reading a book called The Last Garden in England and they’re just a little bit too similar. They’re both good but it’s hard not to confuse the two of them. Luckily I’m almost done with The Last Garden.

Happy New Year, Kathryn! Funny about trying to stay up till midnight – I made it but just barely!
So glad you enjoyed Trevor Noah’s audio book as much as I did! Moving and powerful but also so funny!! Sounds like you picked good books to end the year and start the new year, too.
Enjoy your books this week and thanks for hosting the linkup!

Wow, you finished your First Book of 2021 already! You’re off to a great start! Hello, Summer looks good; Mary Kay Andrews is on my list to try. I really have to listen to Born a Crime one of these days, too.
I haven’t gotten back into podcasts in the past couple of years; I just can’t keep up with both them and audiobooks, especially with my out-of-date phone that is always running out of room for downloads. Maybe a new phone in 2021 will solve all my problems…

A new phone sounds like a good plan.

I’m too lazy to investigate new phones and leave that to my husband! 😉

Trevor’s memoir had me laughing so hard, but it also gave me insight on prejudices and racism. His accent imitations are amazing.

Laura his accents are amazing, I was just listening on You Tube to his Australian take!

I’ve heard so many good things about Trevor Noah’s book. I should read (listen) to it soon.
I used to read everything Mary Kay Andrews wrote but I’ve lost track of her over the past few years. Yet more books to check out!
Happy New Year!
