It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a place to meet up and share what you have been, and are about to be reading over the week. It’s a great post to organise yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment and er… add to your groaning TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started on J Kaye’s blog and then was hosted by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn here at The Book Date.
Jen Vincent, Teach Mentor Texts, and Kellee of Unleashing Readers decided to give It’s Monday! a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children’s literature – picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels or anything in those genres – join them.
Welcome in to another Monday! They keep rolling around! I focus on reading, quilting, gardening, less walking and house cleaning than I should, podcasts, the odd TV bits and pieces. I try to keep clear of most news! Although the awful fires in a few places have not escaped my attention. So devastating. Stay safe everyone.
What I read last week:
What I am reading now:
from the library
Up next:
From my TBR actual bookshelf. I have all these books sitting there. It’s so hard to choose, but for today’s choice I took the first book in the line on the shelf!
I like library and book books, so the Overdue one looks interesting. Hope you had a great reading week (since I’m so late getting to last weeks posts!)

Meh – housework is overrated anyway. Reading is so much better for you! Have a great week.

The cover of Love Lettering – so pretty!! I feel like I live an “overdue life” too, so that title also looks interesting!

It’s a good feeling to read the books off of your own shelves! I like the sound of the books you’re reading and listening to. I just listened to one about Indian women in London — Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows — and am listening to one about Indian-Americans in California now — Pride, Prejudice and Other Flavors by Sonali Dev — so I’m especially interested in Well-Behaved Indian Women. I think I’ve already read or listened to The Overdue Life of Amy Byler, but the cover doesn’t look familiar!

Think its a different edition of the book Laurie so that’s why the cover is most likely different. I really enjoyed Pride, Prejudice and Other Flavors.

I only read the news in small doses. I can’t take the nonstop disasters and stress. Enjoy your books. I hope you have a great week.

I have been buying books like the websites are about to shut down! Being separated from the majority of my library I think has made me completely forget how many books I actually own! I’m going to be in trouble when it is time to combine them! I passed on the Robyn Carr but am regretting it. Enjoy your reading!

Yeah I loved the Robyn Carr book, but then I am a sop for Virgin River. If reading helps you get through all this then add to your library all you can and sort it later!

ha ha our TBR shelves are overstuffed, too! First book on the shelf – good idea! Our bookcase now has double rows of TBRs, so it’s getting out of control!
The fires on our West Coast are horrible, and the loss of life and property is devastating. Friends of mine out there are safe so far but posting photos of skies filled with smoke and orange-colored. Truly looks apocalyptic.
I, too, try to limit my news intake. I do watch the 5-min update on the Today show in the morning, just to make sure I know what’s going on, and I read the newspaper on weekends – that’s less graphic than TV/video though still gets to be too much sometimes. I make sure to read the comics each day!
Enjoy your books and gardening and quilting, as your spring begins to bloom!

The Overdue Life of Amy Byler looks like a good one. I try to stay away from the news, too, but those fires are so awful. Terrible.
I hope you have a great week!

It seems like everyone has been reading Robyn Carr the last few months. I want to read The Overdue Life.

These Mondays do keep rolling around and too quickly.
THE OVERDUE LIFE OF AMY BYLER looks adorable….I’m guessing it is set and about a library?
Take care, and enjoy your week, Kathryn.

I’m not in the areas of fires or hurricanes so that’s a relief. Never have I been more grateful for my love of reading. I distanced from the news, etc a while ago.
I’ve read all of your books shown! Enjoy and have a good week.

Avoiding the news sounds like a good idea to me. Unfortunately, we’re closer to one of the big fires than we would like so we have to keep up-to-date. I came across the term “doomscrolling” this week and that seems to be one of my new hobbies. Ugh. I tell myself it will have to get better if we just hang in there. Enjoy your week!

The fires are awful. And I’m the same way- I’m starting to avoid the news myself for my own mental health lol. Seriously though- take care this week and hope you have a great one.

I will have to look at your reviews. I’m curious about Return to Virgin River.
I’m pretty sure 2020 is going to go down in the history books as one of the worst years ever. It’s like the year we ticked off Mother Nature and she’s come back with a vengeance.

Yes, the fires are awful. And now New Orleans is facing a hurricane. A few added distractions.
Good time for reading, gardening and quilting. Love Lettering looks interesting.
Have a good week and Happy Reading!
