Just a little reading this week, still such good weather for being outside and of course quilting!
This week we went down a level and all shops are open and most things are back, although only groups of 10 allowed so no church and no bars yet. Schools went back today. We can travel anywhere within New Zealand. We are only getting 0 – 1 cases a day so feels pretty safe. However I disliked coming out of lockdown and don’t want to move too quickly. And I am totally sick of radio talk back hosts stirring up negativity and doom and gloom. Off my Christmas list they go!

Yes, here in America we are jealous of your leader. At least no one asks where I get time to read during lockdown… The flat share book looks cute; the “only one bed” idea can be funny.

That’s wonderful about the cases being so low. I also don’t want to open up too quickly….I hope everyone continues to be careful.

I hope the curve stays flattened in NZ. I don’t blame you for being cautious. We have a tiny bit of easing here in my county but it’s still pretty cautious.

We are opening slowly in our state as well though it seems like so many people stopped paying attention to the whole shelter in place order a few weeks ago. In her last speech you could basically hear the governor trying not to call people idiots as she tried to explain what type of behavior we should really have. The Jodi Thomas book looks so fun! Your PM has handled this crisis (and others) so well. She definitely is a role model. I am relieved we have the PM we have in Canada – he has done well to help those in need. But it is a scary time. Open too fast – and there may be a bigger rebound. I’m not anxious yet to get out.
Really enjoyed The Flat Share. Hope you do as well. The others look good.

Ah, you are so lucky to live in NZ! Down to just 0 – 1 cases a day! Amazing. You probably know that your country is being held up as an example of the way things should have been done for all. It’s been a mess here in the US, with a lack of national leadership & each state doing their own thing. It’s been very political, which is just disgusting when people are dying by the thousands. Things are re-opening here, too, but they shouldn’t yet with so many still falling ill and dying every day, so it’s really frightening.
Anyway, thank goodness for good books and nice weather, right? Glad you had a good week with lots of time outside. I’ve heard Flat Share is a lot of fun.

Sue yes it has been good here, but being just one country and small population of 5 million it has been I guess easier as other countries deal with States and that makes it far harder. That said a certain leader of a large country provides comedy material every day and for that – so so hard.

It’s awesome that New Zealand handled the virus so well. I wish my country wasn’t run by a group of angry toddlers. My state is still mostly locked down. I hope you have a good week!

Thanks for sharing your week with us stay safe We’re starting to reopen again too, no schools though and most will do only online for our summer here in the states. We’re going to wait a couple of weeks even though I’m ready to take scissors to my hair just to make sure the numbers don’t go back up. xo

Things are starting to open up here too. Easing into things is the safest way as far as I’m concerned. I’m tired of the negativity too. I have to add The Flat Share to my wishlist. It looks good. Have a great week and stay safe.

I’m glad things are going well in NZ. We are still awaiting our peak of cases here in Minnesota but businesses and stores are reopening beginning today. I still plan to isolate myself as much as possible though. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

Our four-phase reopening in MA starts today: manufacturing, construction, and houses of worship. Luckily, our church has a lot of seats so we can easily practice social distancing.
Every time I see the cover of Breakfast at the Honey Creek Cafe I like it more and more. Really needed to add that book to my wish list.

I love a good rom-com so I’ll have to give The Flat Share a try! In England we are ‘loosening’ the lockdown but sadly a lot of people seem to think it means we no longer need to socially distance. Wales and Scotland are being much more strict, but we have a government that is sadly more interested in businesses and money.

The Flatshare is a really good book. I have The Switch which is her next book ready on my kindle to read. We are still in lockdown in Scotland.

I’d still like to read The Flatshare, it seems to be almost universally liked.
I’m a little nervous as we reopen here too, mainly because I don’t trust that ScoMo will deal appropriately with a second wave if it occurs where I am sure Arden will.

Parts of my state have started to open up, but not my area. Honestly, I’m expecting cases to spike in 2 weeks because people aren’t being responsible. Sigh!

I was just reading an article this week about New Zealand and how they have handled the virus. I have o say your country seems to have handled the crisis very well for the most part. I wish my country was doing nearly as well! Anyway hope your reading is good this week!

Thanks Greg. I think honestly we are small and just 5 million. We were able to do it together. We have no states so just one leader. It’s good though and I am fully behind our leader.

My granddaughter Aubrey is still in NZ…I’m not sure when she can travel, but she might be better off staying there.
