It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a place to meet up and share what you have been, and are about to be reading over the week. It’s a great post to organise yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment and er… add to your groaning TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started on J Kaye’s blog and then was hosted by Sheila from
Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn here at
The Book Date.
Jen Vincent, Teach Mentor Texts, and Kellee of
Unleashing Readers decided to give It’s Monday! a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children’s literature – picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels or anything in those genres – join them.

Hope you are all still here hanging in with this pandemic. The best you can. Lock down is tedious but when you see the alternative then it makes me anyway want to go carefully.
The positive to come out of this for me is that I have got back into the habit of a daily walk which is good both for the body and the soul. And its my audiobook time as well so that has been back too. I still don’t settle into reading a book so well, I prefer to be doing, and that is mainly quilting which is so good for positivity and mental health.
What I read last week:
This is a very realistic historical fiction book for review. I’d read it before I heard its publication date has changed to later in the year. So it will lurk in the drafts for a while!
What I am reading now:
I have almost finished these but a little ways to go. 700 pages or so! It’s good although I confess to skipping a few of the awful crime parts.

And my audiobook is almost there as well. The Little Beach Street Bakery by Jenny Colgan

It’s definitely a weird time for reading and everything else! Are you able to listen to audio books when you’re quilting? I’m wishing I had some kind of activity I could do with my hands. I get restless and there’s not much I know to do. May have to learn to cross stitch or something when this is over. Hope you’re enjoying your week and your books!

Katherine yes I do sometimes listen to audio while quilting or I have the radio going. Yes having something to do with your hands is great and gives satisfaction too when I’ve completed something and even the process is fun. Learning something you might enjoy would be great. So much is taught by others on YouTube that its a good way to learn.

That first book looks interesting; looking forward to reading about your experience w/it. It feels like I haven’t listened to an audiobook for ages. I should try to download the Overdrive app and see if I can have it play on our Google home while my butt’s making imprints on the couch.

I am excited about The Women’s Pages.
We really need to do something about walking.

Wendy Francis came and spoke at our library last summer. I’ll have to look for Best Behavior. I’m staying away from psychological suspense for a while, although I’ve got Full Throttle by Joe Hill from the library to finish before it expires on me again, and the horror stories can get to me even more than usual these days, too!

Yes we have enough horror these days without it in books. How lovely to hear Wendy Francis speak.

I love a good historical fiction. I’ll have to keep an eye out for The Women’s Pages to publish 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

Good for you and getting out and walking. Funny, I always walk and do usually listen to my audiobooks, but now my husband comes with me every day since he’s working from home – my audiobook listening time has suffered! (though of course I enjoy his company) Not feeling great today but just went out for a short, slow walk, and it’s funny that it is SO exciting to see neighbors now! We wave excitedly to each other and catch up from a distance – highlight of the day! ha ha
Wow, a 700-pager! Sounds perfect for Big Book Summer! (and it is actually the end of your summer there, right?) Ah, that’s something to look forward to at the end of next month 🙂
Hope you enjoy your books–and your walks– this week, Kathryn, and thanks for hosting!

Daily walks have been saving me right now! My husband usually goes with me, so no audiobook time for me, though….

Well as you know my morning walks haven’t changed in fact now that my knee replacement is getting stronger they are longer almost back to the 2 miles a day Princess Pippa and i use to put in. It alarms me when I see so many stupid people who refuse to believe in the necessity of social distancing, crowding beaches and capitol buildings to protest the stay at home orders. I just hope that they don’t infect their elderly family members and have to see them die alone in hospitals that aren’t allowing visitors.
We are handling it okay but it does ware of you a bitl
Stay Safe

Stay safe Debbie. Love your veggie garden on IG. Those who are stupid are the same the world over, at least we can know they don’t just belong in one country. Hopefully those of us doing our bit will swing the difference.

It was hard for me to get into reading regularly with everything going on, but it’s starting to get better for me. I’ve done some walking too. Your books look good. I especially like the look of The Women’s Pages. I have to add that one to my list. Take care and stay safe!

Totally agree that lock down is preferable to being sick.
We have been walking too….relaxing. Can’t listen to my books, though. 🙂
I’d skip the crime scenes too if they are gruesome.
Take care, and have a great week.

I love seeing how many people are out walking and playing in the neighborhood. The situation is horrible, but it’s nice to re-find things that bring you joy.

Since I started working from home, I no longer commute and this has put a stop to my audiobook listening. I should start it up again on my walks like you do!

Between reading, knitting and jigsaw puzzles I’ve plenty to occupy my time. I also enjoy a walk while listening to audio. Our shelter at home order was extended to May 26. I’m just resigned to a quiet life for 5+ weeks and happy I didn’t have a big event planned during these times. I pray we all stay healthy.
Have a good week, Kathryn. Enjoy your walks!

Thanks Mary, sounds like you have good things going on. I love a jigsaw too although quilting kind of fulfils that need. We come down a level next week to where some business can go back to work so long as no contact and takeaway drive throughs can start working. Otherwise we have three more weeks of the same as well. But rather be safe than sorry!

Hope you have a great week.

It is great that you are finding more time for walks and for quilting. We must do whatever is necessary to get through the challenges of the isolation.
Enjoy your week, and stay safe and well.
