Hope you are all coping. It sure is very odd times. I can’t quite take it all in. My country is today going into complete lock down and closing all except essential services. A friend and I were laughing on FaceTime last night over the toilet paper spree and how when we were very young um… cut up newspaper was the go to. I couldn’t cope with that now!!
Our library closes until further notice. I have a couple of books out. I’ve had to limit listening to the radio because they really like to go on about the government not moving fast enough. I think they are making people panic and its not helping – the radio people not the government! They criticise Jacinda Ardern our Prime Minister and her team, but I think they along with everyone else are doing their best.

Our library is closed to and I don’t think I realized just how much I used it! I’ve got a pile of books out to read through and I’ve got a ton of my own books so I’m not exactly hurting but still! I love that Sofie Ryan series and am so glad you’re enjoying it! I’m so curious to see what you think of the Jennifer Ryan book and pretty much all the other books you’re reading! Have a great week!

It is nice to check in with all my book friends today! Glad you are fine there, Kathryn. Here, the US federal gov’t has still not done much, but each individual state is moving forward. Most states around us have already locked down, and our “stay at home” order will be official tomorrow morning, with all non-essential businesses closed, though many here are already doing that. Our libraries closed a week ago, along with my husband’s company.
Seems like this is the perfect time for Don’t Overthink It! I think I mentioned, I love her podcast, What Should I Read Next? If you haven’t listened to it before, now is a great time to try it!

I’ve been seeing a lot of cozy mysteries on people’s reading lists! Mine too, although I didn’t mention them this week. Last week, I read Title Wave by Lorna Barrett, part of the Booktown cozy mystery series. It’s set on a Bermuda cruise, and I was going to read it on our April cruise to Bermuda. Since that’s no doubt going to get canceled, I decided to read the book early and pretend I was on a cruise with no worries except calories and weather!

Laurie that sounds like that was a very good idea to read and imagine. I don’t think anyone would want to go on a cruise just at present. But a cozy series like that sounds great.

Yes Elizabeth can’t listen to the news and can’t not. Listening to our Prime Minister lock down the country in 48 hrs was riveting but so admiring of her too. Yes The Heirloom Garden is wonderful, gardeners will doubly love it. He does write such a good story.

The news is really hard to listen to now. I’m trying to limit what I watch and listen to. The Sophie Ryan series is a great series to be reading now. It’s one of my comfort books. I love it. Enjoy and have a great week! Stay safe!

Our governor in Massachusetts just ordered non-essential businesses to close this morning and our municipal offices have been closed for at least a week. This is so crazy. It’s like a Stephen King novel.

I found I had to stop my phone news notifications to settle myself down. I have had a lot of trouble reading, too, but I finally was able to read through The Long Winter by Laura Ingalls Wilder. It’s a strange time.

Our country isn’t on lockdown but many individual states, cities and counties are. This is very scary and I think no matter how you feel about your leaders now is not the time to criticize now is the time to come together and do the right thing. I think what bothers me the most are the people who aren’t staying home who aren’t complying with what they’re being told. They are putting the vulnerable people in their families and their communities in danger. I know the west can’t do what Communist China did by jailing people who didn’t comply but China’s outbreak is also on the downslide. I think we need to learn from Italy what not to do. Stay safe xo

Well said Debbie. Yes will hope that here people will heed the call, we have until midnight Weds to get organised. Essential services will stay open. We are a small country so maybe the majority will go with it. I think police and army are in the wings which I heartily endorse.

The Heirloom Garden sounds like a book I would enjoy. It’s hard to not be feeling anxious right now and I do find myself checking the headlines much more than I should do for my mental wellbeing.

We’re hunkering down as well. The libraries closed last week for the foreseeable future and I suspect our state will get a Shelter in Place order this week.

We are slowly heading towards a country-wide (Canada) lock-down. The PM’s and Health agencies’ warnings are not enough to keep people inside . Scary times.
I have tried 3x to publish my post. It wouldn’t even save. I tried rebooting, then lost my wordpress, so not feeling too charitable towards wordpress. Had a good week of reading tho – 6 books, including Sisters by Choice – loved that one. Will check out your other ones – especially Shipman’s Have a good week of reading!

May or may not be WordPress fault – I had a similar problem late last year. Turned out to be my provider’s fault.

Our state is on a similar lockdown. Our nation, though, is so far too disorganized and poorly lead to have a uniform response.

I agree that the news is not always helpful yet it is important to stay informed.
I like the looks of Spies of Shilling Lane and Buy a Whisker.

Everyone seems to go into total lockdown, more or less, eventually- i know here in the States some states are and some are holding off yet. Hope the case numbers in your part of the world don’t get too bad. It is hard to listen to the news too- on one hand you want to be informed, but it can get to be too much as well. Stay safe and be well this week!

I need some cozy mysteries, like Buy a Whisker. I also like fictionalized biographies, like And They Called It Camelot, which I’m enjoying. We definitely need distractions!

Good for you on limiting what makes you anxious. Therr is something called Next Door where neighborhoods can have conversations online. Someone wanted the city to tell who’s been diagnosed with the virus so ppl can keep their distance. Sheesh! If he had it would he want total strangers to know that information? Craziness out there.
