I am not a big non-fiction reader, but I do like some in the memoir or spiritual or psychology type genres. I have a number of them sitting on my bookshelf waiting to be read and as I write, I can think of one or two on my Kindle!
I like all things royal and this one sounds interesting. Of course we are still with the British monarchy here and so I’ve been interested since early times. Our magazines always carry something royal! I heard a review of this book on the radio.
I love all things Obama too! How come I just haven’t read this one yet. I have it in hardback and audio form. I need to get onto it!
This is a memoir and while I haven’t really read much of Pat Conroy’s books I thought I’d give this a go. The title draws me in. At the same time I also bought the memoir by his wife.
Nancy Zieman had a quilting TV show for years. I didn’t see them but have seen some of her videos on You Tube. She strikes me as a very gutsy woman who overcame challenges. She died far too young but I think left a huge amount of inspiration.
This is about Gregory Boyle who worked or maybe still does with the gangs in Los Angeles. I did hear him speak on a podcast a long while back and this is going to be another inspiring read.
So obviously I like being inspired and amazed at the contributions people make to our world. It’s good to be reminded of the wide range of men and women in our world who live their lives to the full. Any recommendations for me to add to my reading agenda?
A good variety here. I think my nonfiction reading tends to run with memoirs of ppl I’m interested in. However, oh! Now that I think of it, I just read a nonfiction book for book club! LOL.

I’m much the same – I mostly enjoy fiction but do like memoirs and some other NF once in a while. You must listen to Becoming on audio, read by the author. It’s sooo good! I just finished it in December & loved it.
Despite reading loads of nonfiction books off my own shelves for Nonfiction November, I still have quite a few left!

My reading life sounds good!
Have you looked at my top 3 in nonfiction last year? (one in each format). They may be of interest to you, especially Talk to Me: https://wordsandpeace.com/2020/01/01/year-of-reading-2019-part-1-my-top-18/
The last nonfiction I read this year was The Japanese classic The Book of Tea: https://wordsandpeace.com/2020/01/12/sunday-post-20-1-12-2020/

I don’t read much non-fic either, but I do try to get in a few each year. Memoirs, history, travelogues and my interest areas are my go to. Hopefully whichever one you pick up first is a winner. 🙂

Yes Sophia Rose fiction wins with me but memoirs certainly draw me. Not so much history or travelogues – I’ll let you have those!

Hi Kathryn! I loved Becoming! And Seams Unlikely I would really like to read. It’s a shame that it came out posthumously – I look forward to hearing your review on all five of these books. ~smile~ Roseanne

From what I’ve heard everyone loved Becoming, I so love the Obamas! Did Seams Unlikely come out posthumously or before her death? I bought a second hand copy from Amazon!

Kathryn! You’re right – Seams Unlikely came out in 2014, well before her death.

I love your list because non-fiction books are my favorites. I absolutely loved both Tattoos on the Heart and Becoming! They both are so inspirational although in very different sets of experiences. 🙂 Both Michelle Obama and Gregory Boyle are amazing people who are making such wonderful impacts in our world.

I’ve been so tempted by Conroy’s wife’s memoir that I think that would be first on my list of nonfiction.

Will be interesting to see how it hooks me in but I always like reading about others lives.

Good that I am not the only one with Becoming still waiting to be read. I feel I should have dived into it straight away!

I am reading some nonfiction, too, including Becoming. At this time in my life, I really miss the Obamas.
Enjoy your reading.

Yes Laurel-Rain – quite a saga but I actually think it was my network provider at fault. They eventually fixed it! I got quite annoyed with them.
