It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

badge
It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a place to meet up and share what you have been, and are about to be reading over the week. It’s a great post to organise yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment and er… add to your groaning TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started on J Kaye’s blog and then was hosted by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn here at The Book Date.
Jen Vincent, Teach Mentor Texts, and Kellee of Unleashing Readers decided to give It’s Monday! a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children’s literature – picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels or anything in those genres – join them.

Welcome in all. I had a good week, except for Friday when I inadvertently put a machine sewing needle right through my finger. Clunk. Panic for a moment, but I jumped in the car and off I went. So a visit to the medical centre to get it out. Left index finger and as I am a touch typist at the moment I am doing lots of mistakes in the letters. However will take bandage off tomorrow. I couldn’t believe that they gave me a tetanus shot, a week of antibiotics and sent me for an X-ray. In our country we have Accident Compensation Insurance that I guess we pay for in taxes so that paid most of the costs! But I thought it was overkill. Just take it out!

I went to a family party for my brother in laws big 0 birthday Saturday night, and that was really enjoyable. It’s good to catch up when family come from all around the country.

  1. Ouch! I hope you didn’t get blood all over your car on the way to get help!

I read the J.D. Robb earlier this year and I’m looking forward to the next one. I did think she could have done more with the connections theme, like if the first victim had more of a connection to Eve or something.

  2. Ouch about the finger! Glad they got the needle out but it does sound like overkill! What are you thinking of The House on Tradd Street? I read one of the more recent books and the main character drove me crazy but I loved everything else about it. The Recipe Box is calling my name. I need to find out more about it! Have a great week!

  3. Oh, my gosh!! Glad you weren’t badly hurt, but that must have been painful. Can’t believe you drive yourself to the medical center! We know all about overkill here, too – took my 94-year old father-in-law to the ER this spring for a bad respiratory virus that left him to weak to take care of himself, and they kept him for 4 days in the hospital, ran all kinds of expensive tests for stroke (no signs of stroke!), heart disease, and all kinds of other stuff and finally announced to us on the 4th day that he had a rhinovirus…aka the common cold! Man. We were all glad to get him back home! I guess it’s better than no healthcare, right?

Looks like some good books for you lately and a fun family gathering, too.

Enjoy your books this week, watch those fingers, and thanks for hosting!

  4. Oh, my, about the sewing machine needle! I had hit “Publish” on my blog post right before leaving for work today, and now on my break I open my laptop to post the link here and see that WP was waiting for me to click OK (that I didn’t want editing suggestions). So it never posted. An annoyance, but not an ordeal like you had! Your reading choices sound nice and relaxing. I’m reading a cozy mystery for that reason, because my usual tends to be on the darker side, and makes me tense!

  5. That was certainly an interesting way to have a Friday. I hope your finger is feeling better now. I read the first Tradd Street book and bought the next couple but haven’t read them yet. Have a great week and thanks for hosting.

  6. I am always terrified that will happen to me when I sew. I’m sad it happened to you, hope you heal quickly! The Recipe Box is on my TBR, I think it might be something fun to read with my mom.

  7. Oh ouch Kathryn glad you got that taken care of but Yikes. And I hope you love The Recipe Box as much as I did last year. Did you know that it inspired my Christmas Gift to my daughter?

  8. Oh no sorry to hear about the needle accident! Yikes. Glad you’re all fixed up though, although yes it sounds like you had quite the production!

Love the look of The Ship of Brides.
