This past week I finished another lap quilt that I gave as a gift to a very dear friend who taught with me for many years. She has just received some bad health news so it was good that I had already started making it and had it ready. Of course it was book related and had “covers” on the books of her gifts, talents, travels, projects she set her class etc. And books read to classes over the years.
And this is her cat Poppy, that she rescued from the SPCA. Evidently the cat never sleeps on the couch but when the quilt was placed there she decided to sleep on it all day! It has a lovely cuddle fleece on the back which hopefully will be warm and nice to snooze under. For Francey, not the cat!
What I read last week:
What I am reading now:
I had just finished my last book when this arrived in the post, and it seemed just what I wanted to read. In the same post came a second copy. I’d ordered it twice without realising. So I guess someone will find that passed on to them. Not a bad thing as Kristan Higgins is always a good read.
Up next:
I like to free wheel my reading in August so haven’t decided what I’ll pick up next.

What a gorgeous quilt! And book-themed to boot! I don’t blame the kitty for wanting to snooze on it. It’s been awhile since I read a Wendy Wax book.

Oh, my gosh, Kathryn, that is SUCH a gorgeous quilt! Beautiful! And…it’s a book quilt! Sorry for your friend’s news – she is lucky to have a caring friend like you 🙂
Looks like some nice variety for you this week! I am really getting excited for the RIP Challenge in the fall – dark, creepy stuff. That’s most of what my husband reads, so I have SO many TBRs on my shelf that will fit!
Enjoy your books this week & thanks for hosting the linkup!

What a wonderful gift and how funny about your friend’s cat. Quilts and cats seem like the perfect thing to make even the worst news a little better. I loved Death in Kew Gardens. It’s one of my favorite series!

Kristan Higgins has really changed it up in her last few books, still has humour but a lot more serious. Not complaining though!
