It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a place to meet up and share what you have been, and are about to be reading over the week. It’s a great post to organise yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment and er… add to your groaning TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started on J Kaye’s blog and then was hosted by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn here at The Book Date.
Jen Vincent, Teach Mentor Texts, and Kellee of Unleashing Readers decided to give It’s Monday! a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children’s literature – picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels or anything in those genres – join them.

I had a good week apart from an earthquake that shook me up one afternoon. I hate them! We hadn’t had one for awhile so a reminder! The epicentre was quite away away, but they didn’t feel it there. Instead it travelled down the fault lines and gave us a nasty jolt.  Did I say I hate them.

I went into Wellington city yesterday and had lunch with a friend while sitting beside the harbour. While very windy it was still pleasant and I enjoyed it.  Little things bring joy.

What I read last week:

I finished listening to this book #3 in her Mure Scotland series – just released. I loved it.

I also loved this latest Jodi Thomas book, it was really three stories in one book, but I really liked them all and they interrelated a little. Another of those books I was so reluctant to leave. Just a very satisfying sweet read that was just delightful.

And this one which was a little stretch for me – being a thriller but not too bad and I liked it as well.

What I am reading now:

I am currently reading ….  a reread. It must be at the very least ten to twelve years since I read this and only remembered it was a 5 star read. So almost like totally reading a new book. It seems up to par with that last read! And at 600 pages just as well!

  2. It is always unnerving! In Michigan we get them very rarely, and when it does happen we are all like what was that? Did something explode? Lol. Glad that you are ok.

    I can’t wait to read the Colgan book! I totally love her. And I was saving some of her books for late November-December. Almost time!

  5. A jolt can certainly be an unwelcome surprise. One of the faults runs down the street perpendicular to our court and we had our first jolt here either earlier this year or last year. It was a different and scarier experience than what we were used to up in the city. Glad you had a nice lunch with a good friend to counterbalance that one.

  9. We’ve only had a couple of earthquakes here but each time I’ve been somewhere where I couldn’t feel them! I loved the first Isle of Muir book and loved the first few pages of the 2nd book but had to return it to the library before I was able to get much farther than that. I’m really looking forward to continuing. I’ve yet to read Jodi Thomas but I’ve been wanting to for awhile. Maybe this will be the year!

    1. Katherine if you get a chance listen to the second and third of the Mure Island series as great on audio. I love Jodi Thomas books, especially some of her later series.

  10. I didn’t know earthquakes were prevalent where you lived Kathryn, they are rare here and it would really shake me up. Looks like a good reading week for you, Right now I’m reading an upcoming hard sci-fi that is FAB. The Razor

    1. The Sci-Fi sounds great. Yes, always earthquakes here, I have never been in a house destroying one and don’t want to be, and always a tsunami possibility too with big one. We are called the shaky isles!!

  11. Wow, an earthquake! Glad we don’t live in an earthquake-prone region…though they are becoming more common because of fracking 😦

    Your lunch at the harbor with a friend sounds just wonderful!

  14. We are in the longitudinal centre of Canada, so we are far away from mountain ranges and coasts and don’t have to worry about tropical storms or earthquakes. I think it would give me palpitations!

    I have the audio for Colgan’s The Bookshop on the Corner, but I haven’t listened yet. I like seeing your Christmasy books! Have a great week!

    1. I think I like the sound of Canada where you are Darlene and then all that snow in winter – perfect sounding to me even though I know snow brings its own problems, I just see the pretty white!

  19. I am sure earthquakes would be scary and unpleasant. So many storms and shakes going on around the world.
    The Island Christmas got me interested. I added The Cafe By the Sea (which I think is the first in the series?) to my Audible Wish List. I wish I had gotten the Jodi Thomas book. I am juggling to finish the NetGalley titles I have.
