It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

badge
It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a place to meet up and share what you have been, and are about to be reading over the week. It’s a great post to organise yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment and er… add to your groaning TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started on J Kaye’s blog and then was hosted by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn here at The Book Date.
Jen Vincent, Teach Mentor Texts, and Kellee of Unleashing Readers decided to give It’s Monday! a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children’s literature – picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels or anything in those genres – join them.

Hope you are all enjoying the end of the last week of September! I am slowly getting around the garden getting jobs done. A little every day!

I had a good reading week, I had one DNF – deciding it just wasn’t for me. But no harm, the beauty of library books.

I enjoy listening to podcasts – on reading and on quilting! This week I heard a couple of really interesting ones. One was with Jodi Picoult and her latest book A Spark of Light. This was on For the Love of Books by Jen Hatmaker. Anyone else listen to it?  Listen here.

What I read last week:

I enjoyed By Invitation Only, Dorothea Benton Frank writes wittily and well of family. The JoAnn Ross book is a coming review book.

What I am reading now:

By the Book is a modern retelling of Persuasion, and as I’ve just finished that I thought I’d try this. A debut novel.

I am still listening to Leverage in Death, almost done now. As always a great audio, the narrator does such an excellent job of the voices. J. D. Robb is high quality Nora Roberts writing.

Up next:

I am spoiled for choice. The library just keeps on giving! I think it will be…

  1. I like your book choices! I’m currently reading Heron’s Landing by JoAnn Ross. It’s the first book I’ve read by her, and I’m enjoying thusfar! Do you like her as an author? Have you read more of her novels? Great post!!

  2. Yay! A books podcast I hadn’t heard of before! I already listen to way too many podcasts (have to squeeze them in between the audiobooks!) but I can always use a new recommendation for a books podcast – thanks!

Hope you enjoy your books this week – thanks for hosting!

  3. My library’s Overdrive keeps me from listening to my own audiobooks, LOL! There are always Waiting Lists, and then they all seem to come in at once. I currently have two checked out to me that I must finish within the next ten days.

I love the wintery look of the Ross book. It’s been chilly and rainy here, but I’m still adamant that I’m not turning on the heat until it snows, LOL! It was down to 16 degrees in the house, so out come the heavy duvets and blankets. It nearly killed me to turn on the A/C in May which is unheard of for us to have temps +30 at that time of year, and it seems that our Fall is chillier than normal as well. We are supposed to have a bounceback in October, so fingers crossed!! It can snow after Halloween!

I still need to try the In Death series. I bought the first one on Audiible.

    Happy reading!

  4. Nice that you are getting some garden jobs done. I planted a fall garden, but the weather suddenly changed to much cooler and wet, so not sure if we will get anything.

Snowfall on Lighthouse Lane looks lovely. Scandal above Stairs should probably be on my wish list.

Hope you have a great week.

  5. I didn’t know there are podcasts on books and quilting which is dumb of me of as anything is possible. I’m behind on my knitting podcasts and am trying to catch up. Those look like some fun books you’ve read. Good for you on not wasting time on a book that wasn’t your style.

  6. Ooh Scandal Above Stairs. I still need to read her first one! And By The Book looks cute. Glad you had a good week! I imagine it will be warming up there now, even as we start to cool off. Hope you have a wonderful week and nice weather. 🙂
