It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? #150

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week.  It’s a great post to organise yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment, and er… add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye’s Blog   and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date. And here we are!

Jen Vincent, Teach Mentor Texts, and Kellee of Unleashing Readers decided to give It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children’s literature – picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels, anything in the world of kidlit – join them!

You might notice #150 in the title today. This is not #150 of IMWAYR, this link up has gone on for years.  However #150 is the number denoting how many weeks I have been hosting it. So a little more on that  later.

Last week’s book of choice winner was Amy from Nerdy Reader Girl  #31 on the linky. She has chosen what looks like a creepy, police detective mystery/thriller…

Well August is coming to an end and this week will see it moving on! In September as I read I intend keeping an eye on some of the my reading challenges. It will be back to some review books, but only one a week. I am becoming far more ruthless choosy about what I will take up to review.

I celebrated my birthday this past week. There is nothing more endearing than a three year old singing me Happy Birthday via video. She is such fun. Then later she asked her mother where the party was! Because birthdays always have parties attached when you are three!  She’d be disappointed in coffee out with your sisters!

This week marks #150 of my hosting this link up so I am going to have a book giveaway to celebrate, plus its still August so I am doing one more for that as well.

So that’s two opportunities this week on the post, and then September ordinary rolls round! The days are already lighter here and I have even dug in a little of the lupin and mustard in the vegetable garden.  Emphasis on the little, as I do it in small chunks

What I read last week:

I listened through pretty quickly to this second book in the series. When I am quilting a quilt that’s a time when I do a lot of listening. Oh dear! quilt finished now so listening time not so often in the coming week!  Anyway #2 in the series and fun. But will take a rest from them now.

These two books. Before and Again which explores the sadness and guilt of loosing a child in a car accident. And Good Luck with That which explores some very important themes to ponder about body image, and so much more.

  1. Happy birthday! Hope you had a lovely one. While coffee out may not be very fun for a 3 year old it sounds pretty great to me! I’m glad you enjoyed the 2nd Royal Spyness! I hope you enjoy the Kate Carlisle as well. Wow! 150 linkups! I had no idea it had been that long. I remember when you first took it over. You’ve done such a fantastic job keeping it going. Having a great week!

    1. Thanks Katherine. And thanks for the Rhys Bowen pointer. Wouldn’t have tried them otherwise. I am looking forward to the Kate Carlisle. I know 150 is almost three years!

  2. I really like the Royal Spyness series. I did get a little tired of the series after the first two because the mystery was becoming too predictable, but then she changed it up and the series became really enjoyable again.

  3. Congratulations on your 150th anniversary of IMWAYR and on your birthday! Sounds like a fun week for you.

Michael Connelly is a wonderful author – his Harry Bosch novels (The Black Ice is one of them) are all excellent – and so it the TV series based on them on Amazon – Bosch.

Personally, I am happy to see August end – kind of a rough summer around here – and too hot to go outside much. Fall is my favorite season, so I am ready for it! Sounds like you are gearing up for your spring.

Enjoy your books – and your gardening – this week! Thanks for hosting –

  4. Happy belated birthday! And thanks again for the book – a friend got me hooked on the Harry Bosch books.

I loved Crimes Against a Book Club and I hope you’re enjoying it!

  5. Congrats on your 150th, and Happy Birthday! Your niece sounds like such a sweetie! I get what you mean about listening while quilting. I’ve been listening to long audiobooks while painting my children’s bedrooms, and I finished an audiobook nearly in one day! I have a new one lined up for today’s second coat 🙂

Have a great week! Hard to believe that it’s nearly September. I’m not so ready to give up summer 😦 The Kristen Higgins book sounds good.

  6. Happy 150!!! Yay good for you. And happy birthday this past week as well. Glad you got to speak to the little one, and hopefully you had a fantastic day. 🙂

If Books Could Kill- I love that cozy little cover!

  7. The 3-year-old sounds adorable. LOL on her question. I hope your birthday passed by in the way you wanted. Happy belated birthday to you. And I’m impressed you can listen to an audio book and quilt at the same time. But of course you are an expert quilter.

  8. Congrats on #150! How time flies when you’re having fun. I love your artistic characters that spotlight your events. They are little “mini yous,” aren’t they?

I must get a copy of Good Luck with That.

Enjoy your week, and thanks for hosting.
